	MIXTEC CODEX he Mixtec ruling elite recorded the histories of their lineages on screenfold books painted on deer skin. Mixtec codices recount complex webs of intermarriage, rivalries, and intrigue. This scene comes from a pictorial account of an important 11th century ruler known as Eight Deer Tiger Claw.
